What does Miura do?
Miura Boxing is a company dedicated to boxing in its modality of Management, international matchmaking and promoter of professional boxing shows. Miura Boxing was born in 2012 in Mexico with the main goal to manage the career and develop Mexican boxing talent to see the birth of new Mexican boxing stars and idols.
At Miura Boxing we look for success every day, in everything we do and we are convinced that success is the fruit of developed talent with perseverance, dedication and discipline. A Miura fighter never gives up, nothing stops a Miura. That is our mentality, it is our essence, that is who we are.
Manuel Garrido C.
Manuel Garrido is a finance graduate by Top Mexico´s Tec de Monterrey and he is currently Chief Loan Operations Officer in one of the most prestigious financial institutions in Mexico. Manuel was described by Ringside Magazine in 2017 as ” little media projection – he does not steal light from fighters – but he is very clever and efficient to negotiate purses and attractive matchups”.
Manuel is very close to the fighters of the team and he is involved in boxing for the sake of and respect for this sport. He tirelessly seeks the best ways to form successful international careers for the athletes that Miura Boxing represents.
Ismael Villarruel L.
Coach Ismael Villarruel began in boxing at the age of 8 years and at age 17 began to compete officially in Olympic boxing, being several times champion of tournaments in Mexico City and metropolitan tournaments. In 1993 he won the 1st National Championship organized by CONADE and in that same year he participated in the Dual-Meet “Mexico-Japan” in the city of Tokyo where he won the gold medal. With this achievement he closes a brilliant amateur career and participates later from 1994 to 1996 in 8 professional boxing bouts.
In 2003 he began his career as a coach and from 2004 to 2006, alongside great coaches, he took on the team of Mexico City where he obtained several national and international achievements. From 2006 to 2017 he worked through CONADE in the state of Coahuila with the Olympic team and at the same time he began to coach several professional fighters obtaining achievements of some of his athletes as the WBO Latin Championship, one of the first places in the tournament ” Gold belt “as well as top 3 in national rankings and experience in international fights.
Coach Ismael Villarruel is the national matchmaker of the Miura team as well as the head coach providing advice to the team coaches and their athletes.
Julio César Gómez S.
Strength and conditioning coach, former high-performance athlete and football player for 28 years with studies endorsed by the Mexican Olympic Committee, CONADE, FMFF, University of Sports, Mexican Sports Confederation, Sport City, among others.
“Coach” Julio, as he is affectionately called on the team, has been a physical trainer of high performance athletes in various sports such as soccer, football (LFA, TEC, UNAM, IPN), Mixed Martial Arts and Physic constructivism.
In professional boxing he has worked as the strenght and conditioning coach for elite fighters such as Johnny Gonzalez, Julio “Pollito” Ceja, Luis “gallito Ceja and Rey Vargas, and has also collaborated in the career of well-known fighters like Rodrigo “Gato” Guerrero, Diego “Demoledor” Cruz, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, Itzayana ” Diva” Cruz, Carlos “Profeta” Cárdenas, Edgar “Power” Jiménez, Javier “implacable “Prieto, Eduardo Navarro, among others.
“Coach” Julio has the task of leading the physical preparation of the Miura fighters so that they are in their maximum physical-athletic capacities for each bout, as well as the nutritional control and the handling of injuries of the athletes of the team.
Juan Carlos Salazar S.
Juan Carlos Salazar is a graduate in Sports Education and has about 14 years of experience in boxing. As a coach, he was part of one of the most renowned gyms in the country, the “Ko-chul” gym where he worked for 8 years helping world champions such as Fernando “Kochulito” Montiel, Jorge “Traviedo” Arce, Hugo “Increible” Casares and part of the team of José Felix Jr, fighter of Top Rank and top world classified fighter.
Currently Juan Carlos is the head of Miura in Sinaloa State and is head coach of several professional fighters, highlighting two solid Sinaloa prospects.
Sergio Hernandez A.
Sergio “Cheka” Hernandez has close to 18 years of experience in boxing in which he has been a coach for 10 years and has been a high ranked amateur fighter, highlighting his participation in tournaments such as Salvador Sánchez tournament. “Cheka” Hernandez had professional experience as a fighter in international arenas and today he is proudly a technique coach in the Miura team.
Ricardo Velazco D.
Coach Velazco is 43 years old and has been a boxing trainer since 1999, he is certified and endorsed by the Sports Institute, the Mexican Boxing Federation, SEP and the Boxing Association of Mexico City. Among his most representative achievements are having participated as coach of Mexico City team in several national Olympics winning gold, silver and bronze medals. He is currently the head coach of professional Miura team fighters, highlighting Ricardo “Pretty Boy” Velazco and Ricardo “Magic-man” Salas.
Gonzalo Toledo R.
Gonzalo Toledo is in the process of obtaining a law degree from Anahuac University and is mainly focused on the drafting and review of management contracts and promotional agreements for Miura Boxing as well as the development and monitoring of team sponsorships. Gonzalo serves as support and adviser in legal and patrimonial matters to the athletes of the team.
Iván Palma M.
Iván has a Communication and Journalism degree (2010-2014). Community manager course for the magazine “picnic” taught by Professor Rubén Darío (collaborator of Forbes magazine). Reporter, photographer, editor and editor in Sports Strategist. Social Communication in the Ministry of Communications and Transportation. Media analyst specialized in Grupo InfoSol. Iván is the publicist of Miura Boxing and his mission is to publicize the work of the team.
